These chalets are located in the Frisian town of Westergeest. You will have a beautiful view of the surrounding farmlands from your holiday house and the covered terrace! Westergeest is in the nature and recreation area of Lauwersland. The area is known for its grand vistas and rich natural surroundings; it is therefore pre-eminently suited for those who love nature. In the area youll find, among other things, the Lauwersmeer Nature Park. Hiking, cycling, sailing and horseback riding in the area are just some of the many possibilities. In addition, a visit to Dokkum, the second oldest city in Friesland, is certainly worth the trouble. This is a city known for its atmosphere and warm, cosy quaintness.

Lauwerspleats

Along the river Lauwers and close to the Green Coast route lies the Lauwerspleats. Nuns from the closely situated Girkes cloister build this characteristic headlong hull farm with thatched cover shed in the year 1651. Because the Lauwers stood in open communication earlier with the sea, the farm stands remote in the landed estates on a private mound. For the guests of the lodging, the rowing boat lies ready with a outboard motor to make trips to e.g. to the Lauwers lake. For the cycling lovers, we have mens and ladies bicycle available for trips and a very special 'Danske Post' transport bicycle, included with place for an original English picnic basket. The Lauwers area; the 'Camarque of the Northern'. Due to the reclamation of the earlier Lauwers Sea a unique area originated with small lakes, creeks, beaches and woods. From the water, but also from the walking and cycling paths, you can enjoy the extremely varied flora and fauna. Especially during the bird migration in the spring and autumn, you will see a big variety of shoal and water birds. The big fishermen harbour of Lauwersoog, but also the small harbour of Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, Oostmahorn and Zoutkamp are surely worth a visit. Close to, within approx. 15km distancen, lies the picturesque and lively town Dokkum. Slightly further, both within approx. 30 km, the cities Leeuwarden and Groningen. Leeuwarden, modest, with an old inner part of town, Groningen, a bubbling university town, with monumental modern buildings, the office of the Gasunie and not forgetting the museum.
