The historic dike and polder village of De Rijp is 4.5 km away, and offers wonderful restaurants, shops, galleries and unique museums. There are plenty of options for excursions in this region. Consider the Zaanse Schans, with its mills and the Zaans museum or the historic towns of Volendam, Edam and Hoorn on the IJsselmeer. And visit the city of Alkmaar (15 km), with its famous cheese market and the Cheese Museum in the Waaggebouw (Scale House). You can reach the centre of Amsterdam in 35 minutes in the car.
