Porthamel Mill Cottage is reached across a garden path. The cottage is all on one level and is attached to the owners? home, the main Mill House. The original Mill dates back to the 18th century and is situated about half a mile from the road along a farm track in an idyllic location with a lovely very large wilderness garden with paths mown through the grass and woodland to private sitting or picnic areas. There are views across the surrounding woodland garden and fields. Remark: The access road to the Mill is via a long track and this can be muddy in the winter ? so Wellington boots are advisable for opening the field gates in the winter and wet weather.

Pen-y-Fan Loft is accessed through a large carport and up a flight of wooden stairs to the front door. The room is attractive and spacious with a galley kitchen with a four ring electric cooker, with oven, microwave, fridge, toaster etc. A comfortable sofa and a chair and a double bed with very attractive patchwork bed cover, cream carpets and wooden floor boards; the wooden A-Frame beams have been exposed giving a feeling of height to the room. If required there is an extra put-u-up bed for people not wishing to share a double bed. TV with DVD and CD player. The exposed roof beams make this an attractive studio in which to stay with long narrow windows looking out towards Pen-y-Fan and the mountains. The bathroom has a bath with a hand held shower, handbasin and toilet. The garage below provides dry and safe storage for any outdoor activities like mountain bikes or canoes.

Both cottages can be booked together for a larger party. Well equipped and surrounded by farmland approx mile from Talybont-on-Usk Village, the road passing the barn leads directly up onto the mountains and Blaen-y-Glyn waterfalls and Talybont Reservoir. There is salmon and trout fishing on 1 mile single bank stretch of the River Usk (suitable for 2 rods). Availability and cost to be discussed with the owner in advance (ideal for the keen fisherman). The owners keep unusual breeds of ducks and poultry which roam all around and whenever possible supplies free range eggs (not available during the winter). Some logs are provided on arrival. The yard in front of the barn is used by the family daily when feeding the hens and horses. They may be moving horses or garden machinery or making apple juice and cider next door in the autumn.
