Delphinium 5 Bareroot Plants
- Plant Seeds
Perennial Delphinium are very attractive and will make a great addition for cottage gardens borders or as cut flowers.
Provided the soil is not waterlogged or frozen you can plant straight into the garden. Bareroot plants should usually be planted about an inch below the surface. Gently water them in and then water as necessary until the next good rain or during dry periods. Removing faded flowers will generally encourage a second flush of colour in many plants. Each autumn cut plants back to ground level after flowering.

A justifiably famous and reliable strain that will flower in the summer from an early sowing. This breed produces strong spikes of mainly semi-double blooms in a wide colour range on sturdy stems.
Sow from February to April approx 3mm deep in seed sompost. Flowers early summer and will grow to a height of 1.2-1.5m (4-5 feet). Make sure that the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination (usually takes 1-3 months at 10-13C). Transplant when large enough to handle into 8cm pots.
