Cultural Information:
Japanese iris plants thrive in moist acid or neutral soil in damp borders or planted at the margins of a pond or stream. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded position and incorporate plenty of well rotted organic matter into the soil prior to planting. Overcrowded clumps of Japanese iris plants can be divided in autumn after flowering. Be sure to mulch around the base of iris ensata in spring to help retain moisture in the soil.
